Father’s Day
June 17th, 2007 | by Vinny |
First of all, I hope you had a Happy Father’s Day! I did, and I will recap to explain.
It started with a brief snack in bed. A snack and not breakfast, but that too requires explanation. You see, It’s Sunday, and I always work on Sunday. I have a church gig, where I go at 9:00 to sing at a mass, and then I usually work with the choir from 10:15 to 11:30, at which time we sing at the 11:30 mass. However, the choir season ended last week, so I have a window of time after 9:00 mass ends.
That window was filled with a family breakfast at a new local diner. The place used to be the de facto center of town, but it’s been taken over and remodeled. Not pleasing to everyone in my party, but I digress.
After breakfast, we went back to church and sat in the little garden behind the church as we waited for mass to begin. The whole gang stayed for mass, and then it was back home for a few minutes rest and the gift.
My wife got me a gym membership. Well, she got us gym memberships. The gym (about 12 minutes from the house) is open 24 hours on weekdays. This is good, since she’s been working evenings, and we may be able to get there at about 9pm when she finishes. However, I want to try to do mornings. As a matter of fact, I’m packed and ready to go out at (yikes) 5:30am to work out. Then shower, dress, and head off to work. But again, I digress.
After gifts, we were off to the driving range. The kids had their clubs, I had mine.We got the jumbo (150) bucket of balls, and split it 4 ways. The kids had each outgrown their clubs, so everybody moved up a size. Skippy, my Wife and I all used mine, Wanda used Skippy’s clubs. After driving the 150 balls, we went over to the mini-golf course and played a round. It was fun, but the sun was blazing. We all got a little burned (even with sunscreen) and the kids behind us (as well as their dad) were pretty rude.
After golf, we headed home to clean up, and then out to dinner with Grandad (wife’s dad) and the family (12 people total). After dinner, back to their house for a very brief visit and home for a quiet night of getting ready for school/gym. Monday Skippy takes the French Language Proficiency Test. Tuesday he takes the Earth Science Regents. As such, we wanted a good nights sleep tonight. It’s not working out that way, however, becasue no matter how many times I say it, NO ONE IS IN BED!
But again, I digress. It was a lovely, well thought out day, and I appreciate all the love the family put into the day. As a result of this day AND a story my brother-in-law told me, Tuesday’s post will be on Kids and Golf.
Oh, and don’t let me forget to tell you the story about the porn on the computer my father-in-law received as a gift.
