Trying out WordPress
November 21st, 2006 | by Vinny |Having seen some nice looking WordPress blogs, I thought I would try our WordPress for Digital Father.
I guess it’s nice. We’ll see how the import and other features work, and we’ll go from there. I like the category function already. And trackbacks? Cool!

I can see why you like WordPress. We are considering it for blogs at work. I do like the categories function too. Plus, it seems there are lots more templates to choose from.
Did you have to retag everything for those categories? Or were those the tags you had already?

Nope. It brought over the entire feed, along with comments. the categories, however, were all entered by hand. You do get a list of your existing categories when you post, and it uses smart typing to suggest categories from other WP blogs.
There are a bunch of other options too, like excerpts, slugs, and others that I am only just now exploring. Comment tracking, comment feeds, static pages. A lot of stuff I like to use, especially for the podcast. A static podcast page is cool. Plus, you can add links pages, archive pages- it even makes toast!

I’m interested in hearing more about your Wordpress experience over time. I have a friend who blogs on Wordpress and is absolutely passionate about it. Looks great so far!
