Fatherhood Resolutions for 2007
January 2nd, 2007 | by Vinny |
I’m splitting up my resolutions this year. I’m tackling fatherhood here. Other personal resolutions will show up at Bernies World, and I’ll post my digital resolutions at World of Bernie.
What do I want to do differently as a father for 2007?
- Play a game with the kids each week.
- After our big Risk game, I was reminded of how much they enjoy playing games. I will have to make sure to buy games I can enjoy too, because some of the ones they like I don’t care for.
- Complain less about homework.
- It’s hard enough to get them to do it. If I complain, they will complain as well. I want to preclude that type of reaction.
- Less TV and more music.
- We have fun making music. We should do it more. They also want to do ratings this year, and we’ll need to prepare.
- Take the kids to play golf.
- They both like it. I didn’t get out enough last year. This year I’d like to do so for all of our sakes.
I want to keep the list manageable, so that’s it. It may seem like not much of a list, but there are lots of other changes that will come as a result of these changes. Check out the other lists as they come on the net to get the “gestalt” of resolutions.
Update: I want to try writing in the morning, so I may spend a little time studying how to get up earlier.

I’ve read the “getting up early” article on Steve Pavlina’s site a couple of times. And I REALLY want to do it too so that I can squeeze in a few minutes of exercise… So far I’ve failed miserably two days in a row. But I’ll keep trying. And if you can combine it with the “try something for 30 days” thing…well, that would really be something.
I really believe that morning is the best time to carve out something for yourself before the responsiblities of the day take over. Good Luck and let us know how you do. Want me to call you tomorrow at 5AM?

If you do, the Digital Mother may have something to say about that.
BTW- got up at 6:10 this morning. Enough time to watch 1/2 an episode of “Heroes” over breakfast.
Oh well.
