Dean Dad wrote a post that pointed me toward a story on Slate which cites an interesting statistic about the proliferation of the Internet- it may be partially responsible for a decrease in rapes.

Why? Some conclusions we could draw could go back as far as Billy Joel’s previous conclusion in “Only The Good Die Young.” We’ve also seen it in politicians. You know that as soon as they start thundering about gays in the military or infidelity as a sin, there will be a new revelation regarding them being gay or cheating.

Perhaps those who are so sheltered in their existence are the ones more likely to be involved in the darker evils. Those who have a healthy connection with their sexuality are better adjusted.

How does this affect us as fathers? I’m not sure. I do know, however, that I’m leaning more toward the healthy, open exchanges about sexuality with my kids. No discussion is out of bounds, and everyone is accepted in my house, regardless of their sexuality.

Unless they are jerks. I have no patience for jerks.
